Below you will meet the school horses of Holly Hill Farm. They each have their own personality, likes and dislikes. They will be chosen for you by your teacher, and posted on the assignment board in the school barn. Remember that your teacher knows which horse is right for what you are able to do. You may ride the same horse several times in a row, and switch to another for a time. This helps you to be the best rider you can be. Knowing how to work with horses of all shapes and sizes, with varied personalities will get you on your way to success. Loving horses is an age old phenomenon that can teach tolerance, responsibility, respect, and provide hours of pleasure. Enjoy!!

I am one of the friendliest horses at Holly Hill Farm. I am a bay Quarter pony. My niche in the program is to teach the younger beginner riders how to walk, trot and canter. I also love treats—apples and carrots of any kind.

Bugs
I’m Bugs. I have been at Holly Hill for many years now. I am part Arabian therefore just a little bit shy until you get to know me. Besides giving you a great ride I love to hang out with my friends while grazing in the field. My best friends are Brandy and Buttons.

Buttons

Don’t let my age fool you. I am still “Cute as a Button”!! I am very sweet and easy to handle on the ground. With my short stature I am great for teaching the younger kids how to ride. I am a small Shetland Pony and even taught your instructor, Lisa, how to ride!

 Casey
You may also know me as “Case Closed.” Tall, dark and handsome—yep that pretty much explains me!! I am a young, dark bay Thoroughbred. When you meet me you will notice I have quite the personality! My favorite thing to do is jump and I also love to compete in horse shows. Currently I am on a full lease.

Chanel
My name is “Cocoa Chanel.” I am a tall, Appendix Quarter Horse. I am mostly used as a lease horse for advanced riders. I am currently in foal to Federalist, a Hanoverian Stallion from California. I am a young mare with lots of personality.

Dunny
Also known as “Just Done Rite,” I am a barn favorite. I have a quiet and friendly temperament. I am a great lesson horse, because I am so much fun to ride. I have taught countless students how to ride because I am good at taking directions.

Howie
My name is “Howie Do It.” I am a grey, Thoroughbred, gelding. When I first came to Holly Hill I was very young and did not know too much. Now they taught me how to jump and I absolutely love it!! I am ridden by intermediate/advanced riders.

Jack
My name is Jack. I’m a Thoroughbred, but I am actually really, really slow. I am a great horse to learn how to jump on. I am used for beginning jumping lessons.

Max
-SOLD- Congratulations Katie Sanders! I am a chestnut, Quarter Horse, gelding. If you look closely at my muzzle you will notice I have a mustache. Many of my riders find it interesting and funny to look at. I have a short, Quarter Horse stride that makes it easy for my rider to stay with.

Misty
Hello, my name is Misty. I am a cross between a Quarter Horse and a Morgan. I know my job and I do it well. I am forgiving of all mistakes and a favorite among the kids and adults as well.
Nemo
I am the smallest pony at Holly Hill. They call me “Finding Nemo.” I enjoy attending summer horse camp because I teach the little kids how to become effective and strong riders. I love to groomed and be turned out all day long. I am a young Shetland pony who enjoys being exercised in my pony cart. I also attend the Avon Lake Memorial Day parade every year.
Peter Pan
Hello. I am Peter Pan aka “Pushy Pete.” I am a buckskin colored, Welsh Pony. The reason I get pushy sometimes is because I love food and I will make a detour for the grass when leading. Other than that I am so much fun to ride. In my younger days I was very competitive on the show circuit and won many championships such as Pony of the Year!

Scooter
I am a 12 year old, bay Quarter Horse. I am fairly new to the lesson program, but I am a fast learner. I am ridden by beginning/intermediate riders. I have slow gaits and I enjoy jumping. Most of all, I provide hours of fun for any one who rides me.

Walker
I am a grey, Warmblood cross. I have a smooth canter and I love to jump. I am naturally a playful horse and I try my best to listen to my rider. I can be just a little spooky at times, but that is just because I am young and have a lot to learn.
